Inside the Grand View hotel in Taipa. The hall is the draw — layered glass galleries under deep blue neon, on a scale nothing else here matches. Opens from 2pm if you like starting early.

The hall does most of the work — people arrive, stop, and look up. Note the hours though: it opens at two in the afternoon and closes at six in the morning, so this is an evening that starts early rather than one that runs to daylight.

Inside

The bathrooms. Hotel-grade, because it is a hotel — the Grand View's own building.
Glass galleries stacked in layers under deep blue neon — the hall is the reason people come, and it does not photograph small.
Gold screens in the dining lounge. The theme is imperial and the fit-out commits to it without apology.
The lounge corridor. Scale is what Manhao sells; nothing else on the list is built at this size.
A candlelit treatment room, well away from the hall — the volume drops the moment the door shuts.
Reception, inside the Grand View in Taipa. Opens at two in the afternoon, so an early start is possible here and almost nowhere else.
A marble daybed in the rest lounge. Manhao closes at six, so this is a room for the evening rather than the morning.
A treatment room with its own shower — you do not cross the hall again once you are in.
The bath hall: jacuzzi tubs with brass rails and steps, and a long marble vanity with orchids and toiletries laid out.

How a Macau sauna works

01 Arrive and check in Bring your passport. You get a locker key and a robe; towels and amenities are provided, so come empty-handed.
02 The baths Start in the water. Pools, steam and a dry sauna — the arrangement differs house to house, and one or two have a signature bath worth planning around.
03 The lounge Afterwards, a reclining lounge. Most houses include food and drink here, and it is where people spend the longest.
04 Add what you want Massage and spa courses are optional, chosen on the night. Nobody rushes the decision.
05 Settle up and go You pay the house on the way out, and it is the figure you were told before you left. Several houses let you rest until morning.
